BENELLIBenelli is a family business created in Italy in Pesaro during the year of 1911 by a mother named Teresa Benelli and her childs Giuseppe, Giovanni, Francesco, Filippo, Domenico and Antonio alias "Tonio".
Teresa Benelli wanted that her childs have a good job.
So, Teresa put every her family savings aside to found the "Benelli Garage", will be after a repair shop for car and motorbike.
In 1920, the business made its very first motor of 75 cm³ which can adapted on a bike frame.
In 1921, Benelli business made its first motorbike of 98 cm3 named Motolegguera. This last will directly be a sucess for the mainstream. Then, this model wioll be developped in 150 and 175 cm³.
This model of motorbike will known a sucess to the Italy Championship in 1927, 1928, 1930 and 1931 thank's to one of childs, Benelli Antonio.
In 1939, Ted Mellors win the Tourist Trophy with a Benelli motorbike.
After the Second World War where the Benelli factory will be totally destroy, the six brothers decide to start a new model of Leoncino 125.
In the beginning of 1970, the Benelli business is buy back by Alejandro de Tomaso which give a return to form for the Benelli brand.
In the years of 1980, the Benelli brand is marked by the Japanese competition make Benelli do concentrate on the little engine motorbike. Because of that, they will innovated for a 250 two-stroke bi-cylinder which will be market in partnership with Moto Guzy, it will have the name 250 TS.
In 2005, the Benelli business isn't work. So, it is reselled this same year. Now, the Benelli firm is part of Quianjiang group which is located in the China South.
